Beat on macOS supports importing multiple formats, including Final Draft, Highland 2, Celtx (both legacy desktop files and newer web app screenplays), Trebly and Fade In. The iOS version is limited to Final Draft for now.
Note that importing might not work perfectly every time and some meta data can be lost in the process, because we are converting between two completely different file formats. Beat still does its best to support some more advanced features in Final Draft files (including revisions and notes).
macOS
Select File → Import and pick the file format you are looking to import, then navigate to it in the file browser. If you don’t know what format your file is, you can see information about it on Finder.
After you’ve imported the file, save it under a new name as a Fountain file.
iOS
Beat displays a file format tag on the icons for supported files, for example .fdx. Once you try to open a file which requires import, you are notified that a new Fountain file will be created aside that selected file, so your original data is always safe.
